William M. Barksdale

William Barksdale is an insurance coverage attorney in Atlanta. His practice focuses on representing domestic and international insurers in commercial general liability, commercial litigation, and property matters.
William first joined Fields Howell in 2023 as a Summer Associate and rejoined the firm full-time in 2024 following his graduation from Emory University School of Law. Before his summer with Fields Howell, William interned with Judges Catharine Haynes of the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and Steven Grimberg of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia where he attended oral arguments, assisted clerks with research, and worked on draft opinions. He also volunteered at Emory’s Humanitarian Law Clinic, where he worked with an NGO seeking to reduce violence in the ongoing conflict in Sudan, and as an LSAT tutor for Emory undergrads through the Pre-Law department. Prior to law school, William worked as an associate claims adjuster, analyzing negligence liability, assessing damages, and formulating negotiation strategies for claims.
William earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Alabama before earning his Juris Doctor in 2024. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Georgia.
