Caitlin Dorné Mattler

Caitlin Dorné Mattler is an attorney specializing in professional liability and indemnity matters. She serves as coverage and monitoring counsel for several international and domestic insurance carriers, focusing primarily on professional liability claims against lawyers, architects, engineers, and insurance professionals. Caitlin also has experience advising insurers and underwriters on policy writing initiatives outside of their native territories.
Prior to joining Fields Howell in 2020, Caitlin gained extensive direct defense experience working as an associate at a large regional law firm, where she represented clients in a range of matters, including products liability, insurance coverage, medical malpractice, and commercial transportation litigation. Her clients have included independent product developers and family-owned businesses, as well as nationally recognized motor carriers and Fortune 500 companies. Her focus was primarily on catastrophic cases with high exposure and Caitlin is skilled in evaluating such matters.
Caitlin was awarded her Juris Doctor with highest pro bono distinction from Georgia State University’s College of Law, where she gained courtroom experience through her internship with the Clayton County District Attorney’s office. She was also a judicial extern for the Honorable John J. Goger at Fulton County Superior Court. As a student, Caitlin was Research Editor on the Law Review’s Editorial Board, finalist in a national mock trial competition, and received the highest grades in Advanced Evidence and Trial Advocacy. Caitlin received her Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science with a concentration in Global Politics and minor in Economics from Clemson University in 2011.

Assisted in defense of domestic insurer in high-profile pipeline catastrophic loss litigation.
Obtained guilty verdicts in felony criminal trials as second-chair, on charges including manslaughter and aggravated assault, among others.
